When he found out of Nikolai's death, he was greatly bewildered. At the ripe young age of ten, Malthael took his own life. Having been thrown in limbo, he saw a Demon scout. He went to the Demon and sought a new life in the world. The Demon promised him a second chance, but only if he could study the dark arts. For the next ten years, he trained, and trained, and trained, and trained. Then he got to come back to the earth. He now dons a cape like that in the description, except in public places.
